This philosophy has sustained and propelled artist Sapna Shah since her childhood in India.
Growing up immersed in vibrant colors, patterns, and shapes, Sapna recognized at an early age that art was all around her. From the carvings in the temples of her hometown to the dresses worn by a woman in her apartment building, the details became her muse.
Art provided Sapna a vehicle for pursuing her passions: spreading joy, making art, and exploring the world. She launched her first business at 10, selling her painted clay pots during the Festival of Diwali. By 15, she was making enough money to fund her art supplies and travels.
Los Angeles' trend-setting fashion industry was the next stop on Sapna's artistic journey. She launched her career as a textile designer and soon moved into art director roles for apparel manufacturers. An opportunity to license her artwork to a wall décor company took her career in a new direction. After several years of licensing her work to publishing companies, Sapna followed her entrepreneurial instincts, took a leap of faith in her vision, and launched her own company. The details that awoke her artistic soul as a girl continue to inspire her as she leads a team of talented artists designing home décor collections for major retailers nationwide.
Sapna is committed to living joyfully and without fear, a value she shares with her husband — her childhood sweetheart — and her daughter. Whether it's skydiving to conquer her fear of heights or training for a mother-daughter hike up Kilimanjaro, she continues to dream big and take chances. Her one constant through it all is her desire to share her love through what she creates. To the delight of her friends and neighbors, this often means channeling her creativity in her kitchen — happily whipping up one flavor-filled Indian dish after another to share.
Sapna’s love of travel, her attention to the beautiful details around her, and her talented team fuel her rapidly growing body of work. Now, inspired by the stories of Indian women she's heard since childhood, Sapna is establishing a program to develop women artists in India, knowing intimately that art can provide a lifeline of a steady income and greater opportunities.
